Dear Parents,
I hope this message finds you well. It has been an eventful week in the music department as our students navigate the planning and developmental stages of their new units.
Our MYP music students are deeply immersed in their projects. Here is an update on their progress this week:
- Grade 7: Music for Advertising – This week, we had a small tweak in our plan as practice time hasn’t been quite what we anticipated. As a result, students have engaged in meaningful reflections regarding the effective use of time. Despite this adjustment, the development of their advertising campaigns is progressing steadily.
- Grade 8: Music for Films – Our Grade 8 students have officially chosen their films and started the planning phase for their music. They are now identifying key “hit points” in their chosen clips where the music will need to synchronize with the action on screen.
- Grade 9: Rock and Pop – Students in Grade 9 have started the plan for the music video they will be presenting. This involves coordinating their investigation with a visual concept that reflects the style and energy of their chosen Rock or Pop genre.
- Grade 10: The e-Portfolio – Our Grade 10 students have begun the analytical phase of their e-Portfolios. They are currently breaking down a song to evaluate musical elements, which is vital for their final assessment.
Special Announcement: We would also like to highlight that several of our students are currently preparing hard for the International Food Evening presentation. We are excited to see them performing music during this special event!
Thank you for your continued support of our music program
