Important Trip Information:

We are very excited about our upcoming Grade 5 residential trip to Muscat from 1–3 February. This will be a fantastic opportunity for students to apply their learning in real-life settings and make lasting memories with their classmates.

Please see the attached flyer for all key details, including the itinerary and a packing list. Of particular note, students will need to bring a packed lunch on the first day of the trip, as they will need one after our visit to the aquarium. Thank you for helping us prepare for this special experience.

Week 18: Learning, Creating, and Looking Ahead:

It may have been another four-day week, but it was certainly full of learning and creativity in Grade 5. In literacy, students explored persuasive writing, discovering how authors use language and structure to influence their readers. In maths, we continued working with measurement, including converting units and measuring angles with greater confidence. In our Unit of Inquiry, students investigated the life cycle of products, thinking about where items come from, how they are used, and how they can be repurposed instead of thrown away.

Please see here for more photos from the week.

Looking ahead, next week will bring our Unit of Inquiry to a meaningful close. Students will use everything they have learned to write persuasive letters that encourage more responsible choices about buying and using products. This project will bring together their learning from both literacy and the Unit of Inquiry. In maths, we will complete our work on measurement and then move on to fractions and operations.

Best wishes,
Mr. G & Miss Megan
