During our school-wide Art Show, every student had their artwork on display. To help us look carefully at each other’s work, Grade 8 Visual Arts students took part in a Sticky Note Critique activity during their gallery visit.
This quiet and simple strategy allowed everyone—even the quieter voices—to share their ideas. Students read each artist’s exhibition text and then used the Praise–Polish (PQP) method to give helpful feedback.
How PQP Works:
-
Praise: Write a compliment about something done well in the artwork.
-
Polish: Suggest one idea the artist could improve or refine.
Each artwork received feedback from at least three classmates, helping students understand how others see their work and how small changes can make a big difference.
The activity encouraged thoughtful looking, kind communication, and supportive creativity—perfect for celebrating our Art Show together.
