Dear Secondary Families,
This week our House spirit has been stronger than ever. Students organised an athletics relay race as part of our preparations for Sports Day and it was great to see how much effort and teamwork they put into representing their Houses. Moments like these really show the value of having a House System in the school. It gives students a sense of belonging and pride, and it allows every student to contribute in a meaningful way, whether they are competing, encouraging others or simply taking part. It helps them see that their participation makes a difference and that they are an important part of their House Community.
We have also been listening to the speeches from students who have put themselves forward for the role of House Captain. Their ideas, confidence and enthusiasm have been wonderful to hear and it is clear that they are taking this responsibility seriously. We will be sharing the results next week.
Our senior students have also had a valuable learning experience this week. They visited Sohar Aluminium to see Processes in Action which connects directly to the science project they are currently working on. Experiences like this are an important part of making learning authentic. When students step outside the classroom they see real applications of what they study and they begin to understand how science operates in the world around them. This is very much in line with the IB approach to learning which encourages students to make connections, ask questions and understand the relevance of their studies in practical contexts.
Have a lovely weekend,
Warm Regards
Andy Cooper
