Weekly Photos Here

Another week of working hard and having fun at the same time. This week the students took part in a bake sale that raised money for breast cancer awareness. Both student councils raised about 200 riyal, which will be donated to the cancer charity here. That is an amazing amount and our school is very proud of this achievement. Thank you to all the parents who donated their money for this great cause.

We have almost concluded our Unit of Inquiry, How We Organize Ourselves. Students completed their community projects and when we return from break they will complete their group presentations. Once presentations are completed the students will have their end of the unit reflections. Then we will introduce the new unit, Where We Are In Place and Time. Unit flyers will go out at the end of the week we return back to school.

Students completed their Glows and Grows this week. Students reflected on what they believe they are doing well at and created two Glows. Then they reflected on what they would like to get better at and created two Grows and how they can accomplish this. Parents you will see these at the Three-Way Conferences. Your children will sit with you and share their Glows and Grows. There will be boxes, labeled Parents, where you share what you believe your child is good at and how you can support their Grows. Please be aware if you are unavailable for Three-Way Conferences then I will share these with you on SeeSaw. The goal is that every parent participates in this activity for the benefit of the students.

In English we completed our Haiku Poems. Students wrote them on A3 paper and drew pictures to accompany the theme. These will be displayed with their completed Acrostic Poems outside of the classroom. You will get to see them when you visit for the Three-Way Conferences. When we return from holiday we will complete nouns as our grammar focus and I will introduce adjectives. In phonics the students will work on r-controlled sounds er, ir, and ur.

For math this week we reviewed place value. Students used base-ten blocks to count hundreds, tens and ones. They completed an exit ticket to check for understanding. We also reviewed 2D shapes and when we will return from the break they will complete an exit ticket to check for understanding. 3D shapes will be introduced to the students when we return to school. The 3D shapes we will focus on will be sphere, cube, pyramid, cone, and rectangular prism. We will look at the edges, faces, and vertices. We will continue reviewing place value and number bonds to 20.
