Grade 1C have been working well together and helping each other do a wide variety of Maths activities and games. Students have teacher- guided learning and a choice of activities every day so they can begin to learn independently. This also gives them the opportunity to improve their cooperation and collaboration skills.
There have been some very encouraging signs of students doing activities and Maths games together this week. This shows me they are developing their ability to share and work together: an integral part of our Unit and Central idea. With regards to the numeracy and Maths skills- we cover many number tasks- counting, sequencing, writing, using numbers in games with spinners, dice, counters, dominoes and other manipulatives. They have also been looking at graphs, Venn diagrams and doing tally marks as a way of recording information.
Students have been invited to ‘Pair and Share’ this week for different lessons and counting together worked very well. They understand that they can really help support each other when we work with a friend who we may have different skills and knowledge to ourselves.
Happy Weekend everyone!
