Dear Grade 2SB Parents,

Thank you for all your support this past academic year, it has been a real pleasure working with your children and seeing the amazing growth they have made, socially, emotionally and academically. I look forward to seeing so many of them move on to Grade 3 here at ABIS and how they will continue to grow in themselves and their learning.

In Grade 2 this year, we have explored Sohar during Oman Week, created community spaces and homes for around the world. Through our Sharing the planet unit, students learned about biomes, including the plants and animals which inhabit those places and build their own habitats which they proudly demonstrated to their peers. The students used their social, communication and thinking skills to work together building a complex machine to solve a problem and were very proud of their machines. At the beginning of the year, we learned about our cultures and shared our autobiography boxes which told more about our own identities. In each unit of inquiry Grade 2 has explored different concepts, used their approaches to learning and developed their learner profile qualities. I am very proud of them and the incredible learning which has taken place across this past year.

Our last week in Grade 2 has been filled with finishing off personal narratives, organising work to go home (please check bags!) and enjoying ourselves at the pool party, playing some learning games or spending final days with each other.

Many library books have been returned; however, some from our students are still missing. Please have a look over the summer and, if found, return them in August.

Please find lists below of suggested reading books for your children to continue their reading growth throughout the summer, if you or your children happen to visit bookshops and would like to add to your bookshelf.

I wish you all a restful summer and safe travels if you are travelling.

Kind regards,

Stephanie Batley
