Grade 1A have been busy again this week. We continue to review our sound knowledge and this week we returned to study those 5 important letters- the vowels. Many skills are involved: recognising, saying, matching, blending or segmenting to then be able to read and write. One group worked hard to match pictures and words and made their own vowel cards. They had to sort them into the groups and were very committed to getting this right! Very pleased with their efforts.
Two other groups listened to the well-known story, The Tiger Who Came to Tea. Then, to understand sequence and story structure, students were given many picture cards from the story to sequence. They worked collaboratively and managed to do this task quickly and efficiently- we compared the cards and just 2 were different- great work!
