Grade 8 MYP Design students have completed their interdisciplinary project in collaboration with Math and Science and are now presenting their work to each other. In teams of two to three, they designed and constructed small-scale models of national parks, examining how environmental changes influence patterns in nature. This hands-on experience allowed students to explore the interdependence of species, the effects of climate change, and the importance of ecological balance.
Throughout the project, students demonstrated the IB learner profile attribute of being knowledgeable by integrating mathematical concepts, scientific principles, and creative design skills to deepen their understanding of real-world environmental challenges. As they present their final models, they are reflecting on sustainability, conservation efforts, and the insights they gained about the impact of human and natural forces on ecosystems.
