Dear Secondary Families,

We ended this week on a high note with our Grade 9 and 10 students given an excellent presentation from students at one of our Government Schools. Some of these students were previously at ABIS, and so it was wonderful to see them connecting again with teachers and students. They spoke to our students about their work with The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). It was very informative and provided good future discussions and possible Service as Action for our students.

IB Global Conference 2024

I am excited to share that I recently had the opportunity to attend the IB Global Conference in beautiful Budapest. It was an opportunity to get together with educators from around the world, all committed to enhancing the International Baccalaureate (IB) experience for our students. The conference provided a fantastic platform for sharing innovative teaching practices and exploring new ideas in education. I participated in workshops that offered practical strategies to enrich our curriculum and support our students’ growth as global citizens. Artificial Intelligence (AI) was a big discussion topic and I look forward to continuing this discussion and sharing ideas with our school community.

Progress Reports
Today, you will have received your child’s progress report. This report is a summary of your child’s efforts and achievements during the first quarter of the school year. It is an important document that should be read carefully and shared with your child. Please celebrate your child’s accomplishments and discuss the next steps for learning and goals for future growth.

If you have any questions about how to support your child’s learning, please contact your child’s teachers. Three-way conferences involving the student, parents, and teachers will take place during the first week back after the October break. Sign-up forms for these important meetings have already been shared.

I hope that you now enjoy our well deserved holiday and look forward to seeing you when we return.

Kind regards

Andy Cooper
