Grade 4 has been working on creating portraits of heroes to accompany their researched and drafted hero profiles.
Students experimented with the artistic elements of color and value to show the shading and contouring of the faces. First, students sketched the portraits of their heroes. They then shaded the sketch to show the contrasting light and dark parts of the face. Finally, they tiled the portrait to make an intricate mosaic pattern.
