This week we started The Global Read Aloud, which means that we will read one book a week and share our ideas with other classes around the world reading the same book! This week’s book was Chopsticks by Amy Krouse Rosenthal. We looked closely at the front cover and used our inferencing skills to make predictions. If you are interested in learning more about The Global Read Aloud, check out their website www.theglobalreadaloud.com.

Our Unit of Inquiry Who We Are Culture, is coming to an end. This week we spent time sorting out the information that we had found out about ourselves, each other, and other cultures. We added our learning to our culture concept maps and started writing about our own culture, values and beliefs. Students also inquired into signs and symbols of their culture and which colors and symbols they could use to represent their values and beliefs. Next week we will be starting our Summative assessment task and will share our learning  at the assembly on Thursday (if we have school).

In Maths we are still practicing our number knowledge and getting better at Mental Math. On IXL students are working on F and A. We are still really enjoying playing cards to practice our number knowledge and mental math skills!
