This week our advisory sessions have focused on the student websites, goal setting, and of course reading, ending with a colourful and fun costume parade. The student websites are a valuable way of recording achievements, sharing their work, reflecting on their work, and building a portfolio, which can be shared with universities. We encourage all parents to take a regular look at their child’s website and perhaps comment (optional) on their child’s work. It’s a good way of staying involved with their learning. Please email a.alex@abisoman.com if you do not know the address and password and cannot log on to your child’s website.

Congratulations to Mina Znaidi, our new Arabic and French teacher, who has just passed her Masters in Education, specialising innovation in education. We are very proud of her achievement. Without wanting to imply that she is getting old, I can safely say that she sets a good example of a life long learner. Well done Miss Znaidi.

Owing to the Student Council and many staff members, this week’s Book Week proved to be as much fun as ever. The quiz and parade were very enjoyable and we thank parents for putting so much effort into the costumes. Nearly every Secondary student dressed up for the event.  It is a well known and well researched fact that lots of reading, whether it be fiction or non fiction, has a very high impact on academic performance in virtually every subject – and not just English! Please keep encouraging your children to read, read, read. Greater concentration, more developed thinking, more developed imagination, a more developed vocabulary. So many benefits.

Have a good weekend.
