Dear ABIS Community,
This week was packed with physical and sports activities. On Wednesday, we had our Primary Sports Day, and I would like to give a big thanks to the Grade 8 students who assisted our Primary students at the different stations. Grade 6 and 7 students also helped our younger students, especially in the wet sponge relay.
Today, we had our G6-12 Sports Day. The day started with running events such as 1500m, 150m, 200m, 800m, and 100m. We had some great performances in all the running events, with Luis Gonzalez (G7) winning the G6-8 Mixed 1500m race and getting 2nd place in 800m. Juri Al Khdhuri and Mohammed Al Shezawi were other outstanding performers in the 100m and 200m races. Nicholas Ridgway (G11) is still the fastest athlete (100m and 200m) at ABIS, and Toby Cooper (G11) is the fastest middle distance athlete (1500m). Mona Vanhove (G7) and Renée van der Wal (G10) both walked away with more than five medals.
For the second session of the G6-12 Sports Day, the students played football, basketball, volleyball, and relay games. Again, we saw some talented performances. The day ended with a tug-of-war challenge and, for the first time ever, a G3-12 relay race which had everyone on their toes. Well done to all the students, and thank you to everyone who supported the day.
