Another fun week in Grade 2 packed full of learning!
We read “The Dot” by Peter H Reynolds and talked about beeing a risk-taker and having confidence when trying new things. We met with our Grade 6 buddies and made tons of dots together!
We continued to Tune In to our Unit of Inquiry about Culture by thinking about our own cultures and creating a concept map. We also watched a video called “Lars Life in the Netherlands” and anoher video called “Valdo’s Life in Haiti” and compared our cultures to the cultures in the videos.
In Math we practiced our adding and subtracting strategies. We also wrote down everything we knew about “The Culture of Math” and wrote down some questions we had about Math, like why do we need Math? And who invented Math? We will be inquirying further into the “culture of Math” in a few weeks.
Starting this week, every morning we will be going to the gym for BRAIN GYM! Ms. Simpson and Mrs. Drower will be helping us improve student concentration and student learning by leading us through 20 minutes of Brain Gym activities that will help wake up our brains and get our bodies moving.
This week we also celebrated Louise’s 7th birthday! We played games at the end of the day, it was a ton of fun!
Thanks to all the parents that made it out for the Parent Information Evening. It was great to meet everyone and discuss the year with you.
