Dear All,

Students were excited this week as we learned more about Wind Energy. Students discovered how turbines are used onshore and offshore to generate electricity using power from the wind. Students also identified and understood the meaning of a renewable energy source. They focused in and were able to synthesize what they learned through informational paragraphs and doing illustrations in their sketchbooks to illustrate exactly how the wind can be harnessed and used to make electricity.

Students completed WIDA Testing this week. Thank you parents for encouraging your students to bring their iPads and earphones. This really made the testing process easier. The WIDA test measures students English acquisition in Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. I’m hoping Ms. Viviana will have the results of this testing before the end of the year so we can see how much the students have grown over this school year.

In Math, most of the students are understanding the process of two digit multiplication. Students were able to revisit fractions which was much needed. Students developed their understanding of how fractions are ordered on a number line. We took time to review questions similar to the ones on our Basic Math Skills Assessment to help students become more successful on this assessment as well.

There is an assembly today for KG1 and KG2 for those able to come. Please remind students to finish there homework this weekend as it’s due on Sunday. Also, please ask your child if they have working earphones as a few of our students aren’t bring earphones to class.

Finally, as the school year is quickly coming to a close please remind your student of the importance of good behavior and remaining focused during our lessons. I know they are very much looking forward to summer vacation, but we want to make sure they get the most out what remains of this academic year.

Have a great weekend!

Mr. Jaymz
