On Monday 12th June all Grade 5 students will be participating in a Cook Off event related to our Unit of Inquiry: How We Organise Ourselves. We have been exploring the Central Idea: Food can go through many stages and journeys to reach our table. We are now putting all our learning into practise as we put food on our own tables!

Students will be working in Teams to plan, shop for and prepare a meal for themselves and their mentor teachers. Team Shiraa with Mr Wetzel, Team Checkmate with Mr Matthew, Team Alpha with Mr Michael, Team Follow the Frogs with Miss Rachel, Team Flame Kings with Ms Ahlam, and Team King Pirates with Ms Khadija. A special thank you to all of our mentor teachers for stepping in to help! Many students are planning to cook over the weekend to persuade their group members that their recipe idea is the best!

In maths we have been using the V.H. Smile method to add and subtract fractions. In language this week we have been looking for evidence to provide counter arguments to our thesis for our argument based essay.

We wish you all a relaxing weekend (with some revising for next week’s Arabic/OSS/IS exams) and please support our students if they want to get cooking!
