Thank you to those of you who came along to support our final assembly for this academic year! We hope you enjoyed our poetry.
We have started our final Unit of Inquiry and the focus is on food and the journeys it takes to get to us. We started off with a shocking provocation which connected to our last unit, linked to endangered animals and habitat destruction. I don’t think any of us were prepared to fully understand how many of these environmental issues were directly related to the food we consume. Please make time to watch this powerful documentary: Eating Our Way to Extinction.
In maths we have come to the end of our unit about perimeter, area, volume, and quadrilaterals. End of unit assessment will take place on Sunday, so please encourage our students to revise over the weekend. In reading we have started to look at food journeys as we read together, and individually started to research into our own chosen topics related to food. In writing students were introduced to Cornell Notes, another tool to help them note take during research and organise their information in preparation for writing research based argument essays. (Find the evidence to support your thesis.)
It’s hard to believe that there are only 7 weeks remaining of this school year! Have a wonderful weekend. G5 Teaching Team
