A very busy week in Grade 5! We hit the ground running with our preparation for today’s assembly. It was so good to see so many of you there supporting Grade 5.

We completed our reading of Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes (ask your child about the story) and we had a chance to make our own paper cranes and there have been special wishes written on them for you, so be sure to book a slot for next week’s 3 Way Conferences and come in and meet with the Grade 5 teachers and receive your cranes!

We started to explore Rube Goldberg machines and used them as a basis for a bit of fiction writing and saw how he created comic strips to explain the functions of his machines.

We also learned about identifying and labelling forces at work, balanced and unbalanced forces and friction! We tried to make some human pyramids, but found out how hard it was to be completely balanced, so we made them using support structures!

It was our first House Teams lunch this week and it was great to see all Grade 5 students representing their houses, so thank you so much parents.

Have a great weekend! G5 Teaching Team.
