As we continue with our last unit of inquiry Dollars and Sense we are learning about the origins of money starting with Ancient Mesopatamia and Ancient Egypt. The children have been very eager to earn their money doing classroom jobs but weren’t too happy when “Tax Tuesday” rolled around. This was a good opportunity to learn about percentages and how they link with our Maths on Fractions. Luckily for the students the tax collector is only taking 10% of their earnings which ended up being a tidy sum from 16 children!

We had another fun Mathletics morning with Grade 4 D and Grade 5. The children were busy for one hour answering questions and running back and forth with answers. The results were much closer this time with three teams on first equal, five teams on second equal and one team in third. It just goes to show how much effort the children are putting into learning math related concepts.

Taya and Coco from Grade 5 came to show us how to make paper cranes. Having read Sadako and A Thousand Paper Cranes the girls are trying to make 1000 cranes to send to Japan.
