Dear Primary Families,
Thank you to everyone who worked hard in preparing for such an enjoyable and successful first week back to school. Thanks to the teachers, who planned excellent learning in welcoming spaces. Thanks to the parents, who bought new materials, clothes, shoes, water bottles, etc… and who supported their children with being on time and arriving at school healthy and ready to begin a new year. Finally, thanks to the students for bringing such enthusiasm and energy to our campus each day. They are, of course, the reasons we are here.
Please mark your calendars for next Wednesday, September 7 from 5pm-6:30pm. This is when we will host the ABIS Parent Information Evening, where you are invited to visit the school and the learning areas, as well as meet all the teachers working with your child(ren) this academic year. You will receive detailed information about our curriculum and our PYP program, as well as important things like timetables, classroom routines and homework expectations. There will be 2 sessions held for each grade level, so that you can attend more than one, and you will also have the opportunity to meet all Arabic and specialist teachers and ask them any questions you might have about their programs.
You will soon be receiving some information about our After School Activity program, which is scheduled to begin the week of September 18th. In the meantime, if you are interested in hosting an ASA, supporting our students or sharing a special skill or interest, please contact me: Maeve Doherty: m.doherty@abisoman.com in order to talk about what might work. We are happy to have parents back on campus this year and we invite you to be involved in all aspects of learning at ABIS.
Primary Assemblies will begin in October and you will be notified in advance. There will be a Primary Coffee Morning for parents coming soon in September; an invitation will be sent out later next week.
Remember, your child(ren) may be very tired after a long week of adjusting from summer vacation to school day routines. Give them, and yourselves, a chance to rest and recover over the weekend. Maeve
