It has been a busy week for Grade 5 as we have been introduced to our new Unit of Inquiry which will be exploring the concept that food can go through many stages and journeys to reach our table. Students worked hard to identify just where the foods we can buy in the supermarket have come from and we had a look at where the chocolate we love so much actually originates and the many stages involved in the journey to create the product which we can buy in our stores. The students also explored the central idea, key concepts and learner profiles connected with the unit and started to lead the inquiry by recording their questions about this unit on a Jamboard.
In maths we have started to explore how to calculate the perimeter of regular and irregular polygons and in language we have begun to look at persuasive writing and how it can be used to change other people’s views and opinions.
We really enjoyed visiting the Museum of Oman which was set up beautifully in LC3 and seeing our own artwork on display too.
We wish everyone a well deserved and restful week and look forward to seeing everyone after the break!
