A huge thank you to all parents that came to their child’s conference. I talked with all the students today and they were all very happy that you came and felt extremely proud to show you there work. Some students said they were scared at first and a little nervous but they liked your comments. We discussed our learning goals that each child had made and made a few more learning goals that had come out of parent’s suggestions and comments. As a class we decided we would focus on improving our spelling, trying harder to print more neatly, and write more in cursive.

This week we spent most of our UOI time practicing for the Student Led Conferences, but did manage to come up with a business name for our Grade 2 workplace and pick our job titles. We will be making recycled crafts to sell to raise money to help ecosystems. Each team of 4 will have a chance to be in a leadership position. Each team decided on their jobs and have chosen which craft they will be showing their employees how to make. The jobs we came up with are:

Manager – The person responsible for organizing all aspects of the business.

Accountant – The person responsible for taking care of the money and records.

Designer – The person responsible for finalizing the design of the product.

Advertising Sales Agent – The person responsible for advertising the product.

Head Custodian – The person responsible for cleaning and taking care of the workspace and materials.

Some students have taken on more than 1 role within their group and some have decided to share a role between all 4.  Ask your child what their job is and what product they have decided to make.

We also chose the name of our company, Kid Planet, and began writing our Mission Statement. We will finalize our Mission Statement on Sunday and start our business plans. This summative assessment task will be integrated with Math.

Have a lovely weekend.
