With the school now offering Grade 12, we have reached another ABIS milestone – one of our students now has a driving licence! Congratulations Eckhart for being granted the freedom and independence to drive. Take care on the roads and don’t become a taxi service for your friends.
As many of you will know, there is a ski trip to Italy in February. This is a tremendous opportunity for students to experience the wonderful world of snow, improve their fitness and learn a new skill. I am (or at least was) a keen skier myself, so I am envious of everyone going on the trip. Contact Mr. Carberry if you are interested in your child going. Memories of these sort of activities will last a life time!
We are also looking at the exciting possibility of running a French trip in the future. Miss Cerdan is investigating options in Paris with a number of companies. This would be a wonderful opportunity to experience and amazing city, and of course to practise and improve in Francais! The date is yet to be decided but would most likely be before Christmas next academic year.
Today’s teacher training session is on clarity. This is on how to make learning goals (exactly what needs to be learned) and success criteria (how to do well) clear and understandable to the students. Teachers are sharing their ideas and expertise with colleagues across the school as both sections (Primary and Secondary) can learn from each other in this very important area.
There were some great inter-house basketball matches played this week. The tournament was eventually won by the crafty Desert Foxes, but students put in a great effort all round.
