Last week K1s had their first visit to the library! It was so nice to have them here in the library! We read ” Barnyard Banter” written by Denise Fleming, made animal sounds, and looked for “goose” in the book.

“But where is goose?”  Students took turns trying to find goose on the different pages. We practiced library behavior, following directions and how to sit in beanbags carefully. We also practiced lining up and following directions. Then we took a walk through the library and tried to find where goose and green sheep were hiding. THEY FOUND THEM BOTH! We had so much fun sneaking around! Soon these students will be able to borrow their first book from the library and learn how to check it out with Ms. Maryam at the circulation desk! We can’t wait!

K2s and grade 1 students read “Jabari Jumps” by Gaia Cornwall and discussed what we can do when something scares us. Students shared ideas of things that can be scary. We also began to talk about how books have beginnings, middles and ends.
