Dear Families,

Students at ABIS had so much fun dressing up according to different themes each day this week.  Children were very creative and really enjoyed planning their outfits together. Twins day turned into Octuplets in some cases!  Some students built their outfits around characters from books they are reading, which was exciting to see. The week ended with Pajama Day today, one of the students’ favourites, and lots of teachers joined in the fun too.

Next week you will receive an email explaining our upcoming student parent teacher conferences on April 13 & 14.  You will be asked to book a 15 minute time slot to attend an online meeting with your child and his/her teacher. It is a wonderful opportunity for your child to share learning, celebrate achievements and set goals for further growth.  If you have any questions or difficulty accessing the schedule, please email your child’s homeroom teacher in order to arrange the conference time. This will be emailed home to you next Tuesday.

As you are aware, ABIS has a 4 day weekend coming up. Due to the announcement of schools moving to online learning, students will now be learning from home.  In order to ensure a successful start and quality learning while online, teachers will spend Tuesday, April 6 preparing. Students will not attend online learning that day. Your child’s teachers will communicate with you on Tuesday and you will receive a schedule and the online links needed to access the Google Meetings from home.  Online learning will begin on Wednesday, April 7 at 8:20am.  All grades will finish the day at 2pm, except for KG1 and KG2 classes who will finish at 12pm. We are disappointed about not being face to face, but teachers and students have experience and knowledge that we did not have at this time last year, and we are prepared and confident about continuing learning in this manner.  Let’s hope we can return face to face soon, and that everyone stays healthy in the meantime.

Health and wellness remains an important focus for everyone. When thinking about your own child’s mindset and emotional health, you might find some of the videos and information found on this website useful: Mindfulness Resources for Kids

We look forward to seeing everyone online on Wednesday and wish everyone a safe and enjoyable long weekend!  Maeve
