We had some good news this week when our Grade 8 students returned to Mussanah on Monday and managed to complete their dive courses. Everyone has now passed both their theory test and their practical skills test. Consequently, all of our Grade 8 students are now Padi qualified divers, which is an impressive achievement for people of their age. One of the most challenging aspects of diving is being able to equalise, which is a method of removing pressurised air in the ear canals. If you are unable to do it you will experience pain and this will prevent you from diving. All of our students overcame this challenge and we are tremendously proud of them for this. Thank you to Omansail, and Richard Bacani in particular, for making this happen.

One of our goals next year is to make better use of the digital learning applications available to us by creating a ‘blended learning’ environment. An example of this will be Duolingo and Maths applications like IXL, which adapt themselves to the ability and learning needs of their users. We believe that the blend of a very good teacher with an engaging learning application is powerful and will accelerate the progress of students. A number of students have already commented upon the effectiveness of Duolingo as it has a subtle, fun and clever way of forcing you to learn. The programme is available for free online and already offers Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, German and French so if you are interested in what your children are doing and fancy learning a language yourself then why not give it a try.  https://www.duolingo.com/

Have a relaxing weekend.
