Some parents have asked about how the money is used from fund raising events like International Evening. Currently, the profit goes towards the school’s elected charity, Maher. This is the organisation that hosted our Grade 10 students last year in Pune, India, and will do so again this year with the current Grade 10’s. They were set up specifically to help orphaned children, as well as children and women who have suffered from abuse. Over the years the organisation has gained recognition for the excellence of their work, meaning that many schools worldwide support the charity initiative, which is run by Sister Lucy, a remarkable woman responsible for improving, or even saving the lives of thousands of people. Just speak to our Grade 11’s if you want to learn more about the differences Maher makes to people’s lives.

We are also interested in finding a second more localised charity within our Omani community. If you are aware of such an organisation that is reliable, trustworthy and suitable for a school to support then please contact: l.thompson@abisoman.com. We hope to see you all at our International Evening on Thursday, March 20.
