I would like to start my post today by congratulating Aidan McBirnie who entered a recent story writing competition. He was competing against students as old as 17 and won third place! Aiden is 8 years old and in grade 3. The title of his story was Sea Monster Days. Now if we were having an assembly I would see if Aidan would read us his story but we might have to wait to hear this when we get back to school. Congratulations Aiden, well done!
Survey Results
Thank you to everyone who completed the survey sent out last week and earlier this week. The results are below:
Procedural Writing , Recycling & Fractions In KG3
Procedural Writing in KG3 has taken on a whole new meaning. This week Mael shared his book that he made by himself about “How to Run Faster.” I think I need to share it with Mr Carberry! It includes what to wear, how to warm up, what to eat and drink once you have finished … in short how to be a champion runner! It also has illustrations to go with each instruction!
Isabel shared he knowledge of fractions using fruits that both she and her sister like. First she showed how she divided the fruit in half and then in quarters.
Naraina used play-dough to share her knowledge of fractions and was making a salad to share with her mum ensuring they both got equal amounts of the vegetables.
Seth has been encouraging his family to recycle wherever they can.
Marcelo has been making art works with materials he can find in his home.
Liam made lemonade.
Ramadan will begin this weekend.
It is intended that students continue to access their learning during this time. As we are already engaged in online learning we expect that students will be able to complete tasks at any time convenient to them. Online sessions with teachers will be offered at a variety of times in the mornings and afternoons so those observing Ramadan can chose the afternoon sessions if this suits better. In terms of Music, Dance and PE there will be a range of learning to chose from. Your child will be able to select the learning task that is most suitable to them during Ramadan.
Ramadan Kareem to you all. Stay well and stay safe.
