K3 were inquiring into what can cause animals to become extinct! We discovered that humans sometimes cut down animal habitats or hunt them for for fur.

Some facts we learned…

Sumatran Orangutan – only give birth every 8-9 years. This means their population grows slowly and take time to recover from habitat destruction and hunting.

Giants pandas are being pushed into smaller areas where there is not enough food for the panda population to eat.

Sumatran Tigers are suffering from loss of habitat which is being cleared for farms and plantations.
