Well… They do say, when travelling, that you’ll either have a good time or a story to tell. Grade 5’s have had both.

This morning, after looking at weather forecasts and talking to locals it became obvious that a second night in Wadi Saad would put the children and we adults in danger. Just when we were all ready to head up Jebel Akhdar, we made the difficult decision to break camp (pack everything up) and find somewhere else safer to sleep for tonight.

So….. It was off to Wadi Damm. Sadly we had to forego our trip up Jebel Akhdar as we put the children’s safety first.

It was clear, as soon as we drove into Wadi Damm that rain was coming there too. Again, a local advised us not to stay there overnight and we were directed to a very high camping site. This site seemed great….until we saw the steep cliff close to where we would be camping AND the very grey, rain filled clouds.

Finally, after much discussion, we have camped in Misfat al Abriyyin, where it seems there is no chance of rain and the students are happy and safe.

Much to our delight, we have caught up with the Grade 9’s who are staying at the same camp site.

So two wadis were unsuitable, and Jebel Akhdar was too dangerous to go up but the students have had a great day and friends and marshmallows make everything better.
