There are two groups of students working in our brand new kitchen area equipped with 2 full sized stoves with ovens. The groups met beforehand to plan their menu; this is challenging as they need to prepare, cook and cleanup in 40 minutes. On the day, they came prepared with eggs, flour, milk, chocolate, mayonnaise and paprika among other things.

One group made chocolate brownies while the other made deviled eggs. Through this process they learned important skills such as working as a group in a real life situation, and finding solutions to unexpected issues such as the cake mix flying all over when blending and the challenge of filling the egg-half with a spoon. In both cases, students showed ingenuity in their solutions. The first group pierced their mixer blades through a paper plate to keep the mix from flying all over and the second group found a clean ziplock bag to make a piping cone. In the end, they were rewarded with the goodness and deliciousness of hot, gooey brownies and perfectly spiced deviled eggs, which they devoured, but not before taking Instagram worthy pictures of their creations.
