To finish up our unit, the Grade 5’s are working in groups to make brochures about conflict resolution for younger children. There are some really useful websites they have been using as a resource and it has been a great opportunity to learn about using concise language in brochures.

Yesterday afternoon we undertook a “Running Dictation”. The students worked in pairs with one writing and one dictating the text. The catch is, the text is on the wall a long way away, so the person dictating has to memorise the sentence and run back to their partner to tell them what to write. Great fun was had. We wrote about Jimmy Carter, a former President of the United States of America, who is renowned for his work for peace. The fastest, and most accurate, team won.
