At ABIS we are lucky to have a really a fantastic team of teachers. However, every year we must say goodbye to a group of committed educators who will be moving on to pastures new over the summer!
Leaving the Primary School this year are Laura Burton (K3) who is moving on with her husband, Christina Washington (K3) & Brett Ferguson (G1) who will be going to China and Inayath Mohamed (G3) who will be heading to Indonesia.
From our team of whole school, specialist teachers we will be saying goodbye to Denise Kaw (Learning Support) who will be having her baby and joining her husband in Muscat, Eric Griebenow (Music) who is heading back to the USA, Kirrili Williams (Music) who will also be working in China and Briar Chatterjea (Dance) who will be retiring and returning to the USA. Caroline Fogiel (Curriculum Coordinator) will be returning to France.
In Secondary, only Liz Jurkowski (History) will be moving on and she will be joining her husband over the border in Dubai.
We have been extraordinarily lucky to have had the privilege of these wonderful people working with our children. On behalf of us all, I would like to wish them the very best wherever their journey is taking them. We will be formally wishing them well at our End of Year Assembly on the 12th of June and we look forward to seeing as many of you as possible then.
Recruiting great teachers is probably the most important thing that the school’s leadership team do. The process starts in October and usually finishes in April with hundreds of applicants and candidates being looked at. We really do search the globe to find the best educators we can and our travels this year lead us to recruiting events in Boston, London, Dubai and Kuwait.
Attached, you will find information about the new team of teachers joining us in August. We are happy to be welcoming such a strong group of professionals for the next school year.

Also, thank you for those parents who have filled in the Annual Survey – How did we do this year? This helps us to know the things we have been doing well and areas that may need more focus in the upcoming academic year. We would really appreciate it, if you haven’t done so, then please complete this for us. Please click here to take the survey and thank you in advance.
