As part of our Unit of Inquiry Grade 5 wrote a survey for younger children about the conflicts they experience and what they do about them. This tied in nicely with our mathematics where we were learning about percentages and averages.

We visited the Grade 3 and 4 classes and asked the questions to each child individually. A sample of the questions include: Have you had a conflict this week? Have you ever bullied someone? If you have a conflict would you tell a teacher? How do you solve conflicts?

In our maths lesson, we then undertook a statistical analysis of our information. 60% of the students surveyed said they had had a conflict this week, 30% said they would not tell the teacher if they had a conflict but 4% said telling the teacher depended on what the conflict was about.

Thank you to the Grade 3’s and 4’s for spending time with us to help.
