Our focus this week has been writing example questions for each of the concepts areas and then applying this knowledge to their own inquiry questions. Students developed criteria for their questions. They shared their questions with a partner, then worked to revise them to ensure they meet the criteria. Some students realized that they wanted to take their inquiry in a completely different direction, which is great. If they are not interested in answering the question, what is the point? Make sure to talk to your child about their question or questions. What direction are they heading it?

The Exhibition parent night was very well attended on Monday. Thanks to all of you who came in to learn about what is involved in the Exhibition and the important role you have to play as a parent.

We had two guest speakers in to talk to the group yesterday. Both spoke about the conflict created in their lives as a result of growing up under apartheid in South Africa. Each had a very different perspective on the impact apartheid had on their youth. Students were highly engaged and curious to learn about a life experience so different from their own. Thanks very much to Mr. Jacobs and Paul Healy for coming in to talk to us.

Primary lock in forms and money were due today. If your child is attending, can you please send them in with both things on Sunday. Thank you.

I am sure a wonderful time will be had by all at tonight’s International Evening.

Next week the students will be starting their research. Expect to see them researching each night and recording their findings in their UOI books. We will also be learning how and why to record their sources.

Have a lovely weekend,

Ms. Sarah
