We thought this was a good time to share with you an update on all the exciting happenings at school.
First of all, thank you so much for dealing with having to park in a very sandy area for so long! You will be happy to hear that the first of our two new parking areas will be ready to be used at the beginning of June and we hope that this will make parking easier and safer (please see attached photo on progress).We are making good progress on all three of the new buildings and believe that they will all be up and running in time for the new school year. The existing new building LC 1 (currently used by Grade 3 to 12), will be the space for the grade 2 to 5 students next year. The new building next door, LC 2, will be for grade 6 students and above. The new building at the front of the campus will be a new science/music/arts building and will also accommodate the school administration and the school shop.
In the middle of the building site you will see a different shaped building. This will become a theatre and primary gym space. We are really excited about this new facility which will give us lots of new opportunities for learning and sharing.
Anyone who has ever built anything knows that timelines are very difficult to manage! Right now, the site engineers and consultants are telling us that, along with the three buildings most of the landscaping will be laid (but will need time to grow in). This is great news as we will be ready to go for next year! The things that we are going to have to wait a little longer for are the Aquatics Centre (swimming pools / gym), forecast for mid October, the sports field and running track (football, cricket etc), forecast for mid November and the new playground equipment (6 new play areas!) to be installed from October through December. We will keep you up to date on progress if things change.
It is amazing to think that this time next year we will have all of these facilities working to improve the learning and life of our students. Exciting times indeed!
