Yesterday’s swim gala was a great experience enjoyed by all. There were many fabulous races and it was a fitting way to say goodbye to the pool before it returns bigger and better than before in August. Mr Carberry and Mr Jacobs will be communicating about early morning swimming in the near future, which we hope to arrange at both Palm Gardens and Dawood. Students who normally have swimming will now do fitness instead, either outside, in the sports hall, or in an alternative locations so they need to bring their PE kit.

We are now two months away from the Grade 10 and 12 exams and are busy making our preparations. We will be working with them over the next couple of months to make sure that they are organised and prepared, especially in the area of exam practice and study skills. A separate communication will be sent home about this.

Today we said goodbye to our dear old SLS, which is fondly remembered by students as being the cradle of the secondary school. We had many great, memorable moments in there. It was also the prototype for the LC1 and other buildings and enables us to visualise how to set them up properly. Students said good bye with a farewell message by Chair of our Student Council, Anton Gemarino, and some written messages, a little bit of wall demolition and a water fight. A nice balance of sentiment and fun, but a bitter sweet moment!

For your information the temporary car parking entrance and layout will change over the break. The good news is that they have started to prepare the new car park, which should take about six weeks to prepare. You will need to enter using a new entrance that will be clearly marked around the other side of the school.

Have an enjoyable break with your families.
