This week we worked on developing the grade 1 community. We have now mixed the two grade 1 classes for music. We also had an art project where students were partnered up with a member of the other class. There were a few challenges, but overall it was a great success. I was excited to see students from the two classes talking and working together for the first time. In math we worked on multiplication with 2s and 5s, and some students even worked on challenge problems involving other numbers. We read the story bathing buddies together and made text to self connections discussing what it’s like when things don’t go our way. We finished our descriptive writing and worked hard on adding adjectives to make give the reader a more visual image. Next week is our final week for the Who We Are unit. After that we will have our unit on the story rocks tell us about the past. I am looking forward to a fun hands on unit.
