It’s one of the busiest times of the school year at the moment with lots of events and activities taking place, as well as intense exam preparation for Grade 10 and 12 (we wish them luck). We are also planning lots of future opportunities. These include the annual CAS trip to the Maher orphanage in India, as well as the the French Study week available for Grade 9 to 12. This is a terrific learning and cultural opportunity in a beautiful part of France, so we hope that as many students can go as possible. The language centre has excellent reviews and the scenery is stunning.
This morning students learned about recycling plastic in Oman and about the different types of high density plastic that can be recycled. They had a fun time sorting out a huge pile of plastics into what can be recycled here and what cannot. The school plans to do significantly more about this in the future.
Shortly we will be announcing end of year exam arrangements for Grade 7,8, 9 and 11. We have finalised the dates (May 22 – May 30) and will shared specific details with you soon, so that you can support and encourage from home. Exams will be ‘age and stage appropriate’ with less demands placed on younger students.
The school is currently reviewing its dress code and has had a multiple discussions with staff and students. We will share information about this when it has been finalised. We think students will really like the changes and will see them as improvements. The new dress code will show that ABIS is an international school that believes in expressing individuality, allowing student choice, showing respect for others, especially our host country, and caring about student safety.
We hope that everyone makes the community dance this evening!
