Recently grade 7 art students have been exploring their theme of Surrealism and Dreams: they drew their shoes, then their feet, and looked for ways of merging them in a composition like Magritte by using the techniques of distortion and displacement to create images provacative to the mind; they tried automatic writing to probe their subconsciouses; they read Surrealist poetry and developed their automatisms into poems; and now they are developing their ideas to make Surrealist art in the form and techniques of their choice.
