This week, students were challenged to design and create something that would slow down a ball so that it took at least 5 seconds to reach the floor! Working in small groups, students came up with a variety of creative solutions, from ramps to parachutes made using bags and balloons!

It was a wonderful way to spark curiosity and introduce our new How the World Works unit. Following the challenge, students reflected on where they noticed forces at work in their designs and what affected how the ball moved. What a lovely way to end Week 8 and head into our October break!

More photos can be found here.

When we return, we will dive deeper into different types of forces and simple machines, exploring what they are and how they work. In Literacy, we will finish publishing our personal narratives and begin exploring procedural writing.

Wishing you all a safe, restful and enjoyable October holiday! We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Sunday, October 25th!

Warm wishes,
Miss Megan & Mr. G
