This week, we began bringing our first Unit of Inquiry on managing our emotions to a close, drawing together much of the learning from the past few weeks.

As part of this reflection, students decided on actions they can take both personally and collectively to carry their learning forward. It has already been really encouraging to see students independently using mindfulness strategies to calm and regulate their emotions, as well as bringing some of the key vocabulary from the unit into everyday conversations. Hopefully, they are leaving this unit with strategies and understandings that will be useful to them for a long time to come.

We have also reached the end of our personal narratives in Writing. Students have worked hard through the full writing process, drafting, revising, editing and finally publishing their stories. In Maths, rounding, decimals and number patterns have kept us busy this week.

There is also something special happening this weekend. On Saturday, some of our Grade 5 girls will be running a bake sale in Palm Gardens as part of their Homeroom AAL passion project. They have designed and organised the event themselves and will be raising money for a local animal shelter. Please see the attached image for more details and support them if you can.

Next week brings the start of our brand new Unit of Inquiry on Forces and Motion. A unit flyer is attached with more information about the learning ahead. We will launch the unit with our 5-second ball drop challenge, where students will need to put their existing knowledge of forces, motion and simple machines to the test.

We will also begin exploring a new text type in Writing: procedural writing, giving us plenty of new learning to get stuck into as we begin our next unit.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support at home. We hope you all have a restful and enjoyable weekend.
