This week in Grade 3, students continued building their learning across Literacy, Mathematics, and our Who We Are unit of inquiry. In Literacy, students worked with partners to identify the main idea and key details in nonfiction texts. They discussed their thinking together and used information from the text to explain how the details supported the main idea.
As part of our unit of inquiry, we were excited to welcome Mr. Craig, a nutritionist joining us from Qatar, for a special online visit. He spoke with students about nutrition, healthy choices, and how the food and lifestyle choices we make can support our bodies and overall wellbeing. Students had the opportunity to ask questions, make connections to their learning about body systems, and reflect on choices they can make to care for their bodies.
In Mathematics, we continued strengthening our understanding of place value and began exploring how to round numbers to the nearest ten. Students used their understanding of tens and ones to help decide which multiple of ten a number is closest to.
It was a great week of collaboration, questioning, and making meaningful connections across our learning.
