What a wonderful way to end our week with our Grade 5 & 6 Assembly! Our students showcased their learning about feelings and their understanding that what we see on the outside isn’t always what is happening on the inside. We are super lucky to have so many risk-takers in Grade 5 who wanted to participate and have a part in the assembly!

Our week in Grade 5 focused on role-plays and communication skills as we prepared for our assembly. We also explored how our thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are connected and how changing our thoughts can help turn a negative loop into a positive one.

In maths, we continued developing our understanding of place value by reading, representing, and interpreting larger numbers through creating our own place value riddles. At the end, we got to try to solve each other’s riddles!

In writing, we continued working on our small moments, really focusing on the five senses, along with how to create a strong beginning that engages our readers. Writers explored using dialogue, action, sounds, thoughts, or descriptions to achieve this.

You can find more photos from the week here.

Next week, we will explore different mindfulness techniques and reflect on which practices best suit us before creating our own ‘self-care menu’. In maths, we will explore how number lines can help us with rounding, while in writing, we will begin to draft our small moments, focusing on adding details that make the reader feel as if they were experiencing the moment themselves.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend.

Warm regards,
Miss Megan & Mr. G
