Dear Primary Families,
We have enjoyed a successful first week of our After School Activities (ASAs), and it has been great fun seeing students involved in such a wide range of activities. From yoga and Stop Motion Movie creation to maths games, arts and crafts, and Speed Stacking, there has certainly been plenty happening around the school after 3:00 pm!
I even joined one of our Speed Stacking groups for a challenge this week. I quickly discovered that I may not have a future as a competitive speed stacker, but I certainly had lots of fun trying! One of the things I particularly value about our ASA programme is the opportunity it gives students to try something different, develop new interests and spend time with students and teachers beyond their usual classroom setting.
Keeping Connected
One of the most important factors in supporting children successfully at school is a strong partnership between home and school. Good communication plays an important part in this, helping us to share successes, address questions or concerns, and work together to support each child’s learning and wellbeing.
Across Primary, Seesaw is one of our main platforms for this communication. As well as receiving important class messages and updates, Seesaw provides parents with a valuable window into the classroom, allowing you to see some of the learning experiences your child is engaged in and providing opportunities to talk about this learning together at home.
I encourage all parents to regularly check Seesaw and engage with what is being shared. If you have a question or concern specifically about your child or their learning, their homeroom teacher will usually be the best first point of contact. Open and respectful communication between parents and teachers helps us to work together in the best interests of our students.
Parent Coffee Morning and Workshop
On Tuesday, 15th September, we look forward to welcoming parents to our next Parent Coffee Morning. Mr. Cooper, our Secondary Principal, and I will begin the morning with an opportunity to connect informally with parents.
This will be followed by a workshop led by our school counsellors, Ms. Maitha and Ms. Sharouq, focusing on how a consistent daily routine can help shape a child’s wellbeing, learning, and behaviour. This is an important and very practical area for families, and we hope that many of you will be able to join us.
Sharing Our Learning
Next week will end with our first student sharing assembly of the new school year. On Thursday, 17th September, our Grade 5 and Grade 6 students will have the opportunity to share some of their learning with our Primary community. These assemblies are always a lovely opportunity for students to develop their confidence, celebrate their learning, and learn from one another.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support and partnership. Wishing you and your families a wonderful weekend.
Best regards,
Matthew
Primary Principal
