Dear Primary Families,

We ended the week on a wonderful high with our KG1–Grade 2 Summer Concert. Congratulations to all of our youngest performers, who took to the stage with confidence and enthusiasm. It was lovely to see the progress and development since our Winter Concert back in December, which now feels like a very long time ago!

A huge thank you goes to our music teacher, Mr. Mino, for all the work he has put into preparing the students, as well as to the teachers and classroom assistants who supported the performances behind the scenes. Events such as these take a great deal of teamwork and preparation, and we appreciate all the effort that went into making the concert such a success.

Earlier in the week, we celebrated our Grade 6 Graduation Ceremony. This was a very special occasion and a wonderful opportunity to recognise our students as they reached the end of their PYP journey. We congratulate them on all their successes and wish them every success as they continue into the MYP next year.

A very special thank you goes to our Grade 6 team, Mr. Matthew, Ms. Zahra, and Ms. Meerah, for all their hard work and commitment throughout the year. Thank you also to the parents for their support in helping stage the event. The students looked magnificent in their graduation gowns, and the food shared after the ceremony was absolutely delicious. I would also like to acknowledge and thank all the teachers who have been part of this cohort’s journey over the years, whether teaching them this year or in previous grades.

On Wednesday, students from the Grade 6 French class took part in a wonderful French MasterChef competition, organised by Ms. Nuria. The quality and presentation of the dishes prepared by the students was outstanding, and I was amazed by the excellence of the food produced. Students spoke with confidence and accuracy in French as they presented their dishes, and it was clear how much effort had gone into both the preparation and presentation. Thank you to Ms. Nuria for organising such an enjoyable event and for inviting the judges and me to sample and enjoy the food.

This week has also been Spirit Week, which has brought plenty of fun and laughter to the school. I enjoyed beginning the week with Pajama Day, and Twin Day was great fun as I matched with Mr. Cooper. Tuesday gave me the chance to dig out my old Oasis t-shirt, my favourite band from the 1990s and one I was lucky enough to see in concert last summer! Wednesday’s “Dress as a Student” day was also very entertaining, and I particularly enjoyed seeing so many “mini-me” versions of Mr. Matthew around the Primary School… unless, of course, they meant the other Mr. Matthew!

Looking ahead to next week, we are excited for the Grade 3–Grade 6 Summer Concert on Thursday, and I know students and staff are working hard in preparation. We now have just nine school days remaining in the academic year. There is still much to look forward to, including class parties, Moving Up Day for Grade 6, pool parties, and many more enjoyable end-of-year activities.

As always, thank you for your continued support, and wishing you all a happy and relaxing weekend.

Best regards,
Matthew
Primary Team Lead
