Congratulations to our Grade 5 students who participated in the production of Jewel of Muscat this morning! They have been dedicated to their rehearsals, and it all paid off as they did a wonderful job this morning! Special thank you to Mr. Mino and Ms. Khadija for coordinating and bringing the production together. You can find photos from the production and more photos of the week here. The Jewel of Muscat website can be found here.

This week, we launched our final Unit of Inquiry, Where We Are in Place and Time, focusing on how curiosity adds to our understanding of our place in the universe. We began with a provocation that challenged students to complete six tasks without iPads and with only limited resources. Some of the challenges included predicting the weather in Sohar yesterday at 3:00 pm, getting a message to Antarctica, and stopping an ice cube from melting.

Students identified what would be needed in order to successfully complete these challenges, and little did they know that many of these resources and technologies were either invented or significantly improved through space exploration!

Next week we will continue to delve into how the solar system impacts life on Earth. We will also be wrapping up on our realistic fiction stories and begin to explore poetry.

For our Arabic speaking students, they will have their final exams on Sunday (Social Studies), Tuesday (Arabic), and Thursday (Islamic) next week from 8:20-10:00am. Please ensure your child gets a good night’s rest and eats a healthy breakfast. Wishing everyone the best of luck on their exams!

Warm regards,

Miss Megan & Mr. G
