This week, the EAL department began WIDA testing for students who are identified as English language learners. WIDA is an annual assessment used to measure students’ progress in developing their English language skills.
The purpose of the assessment is to ensure that ABIS is providing the appropriate support and instruction needed for students to succeed academically. The results help teachers understand how well students are progressing in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in English.
If a student is not making expected progress, the assessment data helps the school identify areas where additional support may be needed. This information allows teachers to adjust instruction and provide targeted strategies to help each child continue growing and achieve success across all subject areas.
