It has been a fantastic week in Grade 5 as we celebrated Book Week! There were so many great opportunities for students to engage with reading, including the Find the Hidden Sentence challenges in the library, a bake sale, a book swap, and time spent reading with our Grade 2 buddies to share a love of books. Of course, a highlight was dressing up on Wednesday as favourite book characters. A big thank you to all families for supporting your children in taking part in these activities and helping to foster a love of reading.
Alongside all of this excitement, learning has continued in full swing. Students have been developing their own characters, settings, and plots for their realistic fiction narratives, reaching the final stages of the planning process. In our Unit of Inquiry, we have fully delved into the research phase of our digital citizenship projects. Students have been using a range of sources, including websites and books, as well as creating surveys to gather information. They have been practising how to take notes effectively and summarise ideas in their own words.

Looking ahead, next week we will begin moving from planning into drafting our narratives. In our Unit of Inquiry, students will start bringing their research together, organising their ideas, and planning how they will present and share their learning.
Best wishes,
Mr. G & Miss Megan
